Do I trust our politicians, public servants, government departments, Amazon?

But I have loaded the CovidSafe app onto my phone because it may save my life, the life of one of my loved ones, your life, the life of one of your loved ones or even an acquaintance of an aquaintance of a friend.
- According to everything I have read, the data collected by CovidSafe will not be used unless or until I or someone I come in close proximity for more than 15 minutes tests positive. Once the data on my phone is uploaded everyone I may have inadvertantly come into near contact with will be traced and tested.
- In the unfortunate circumstance where someone passes the infection to me I will get an earlier heads up if the infectious person also has this app. I will be able to self isolate and stay away from friends, children, grand children, parents and customers far quicker than if someone had to remember being near me in the past 14 days or even knew me.

The data collected by CovidSafe is only on your phone, if it becomes obvious you have been infected or been very close to someone who has, only then can the government request that data. It is up to you to allow them to upload it, it is not compulsory.
So what do they get? They get your name (can be false), your phone number (must be real), your unique ID (generated by the app), your approximate age (to help them decide the urgency with which you should be dealt) and your postcode (to assist in allocating resources locally to you). If you are found to be carrying the Covid19 they crank up the Tandy Colour Computer and extract every ID you have been near whilst probably contagious then they match that ID to a phone number and call.
Whilst I doubt anyone will knowingly release this dataset of collected data on purpose, we are not necessarily dealing with the smartest people in Australia, something could go wrong (at time of writing even the people who need the data can't have it). But what would it matter? How could it possibly affect you? If they had the processing power they could identify who you came near and when but there is no geo-location and there is no data to identify why or where you were going and neither is there any data to identify if you actually know the other person. If the government wants to know this they just need to check your facebook or other social media that you take great pride in.
